DESCRIPTION
This seminar will explore ideas ranging from Freud’s vision of the transference as a resistance and a cul de sac to Jung’s many responses to the phenomena. We will wonder about transference as a means of opening up new possibilities via the projection of what is as yet unknown by the patient into the analyst. There is the further question of whether the phenomenon is uni or multidirectional. Might transference and countertransference be an interactive regulated flow in both directions, perceptible from moment to moment, as Beebe and Lachmann describe it?
